Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Liza Md Amin @Fahmy


Malaysian Competition Appeal Tribunal

Dr Wan liza, a penangite born in 1971, graduated from International Islamic University with LLB honours and obtained LLM from Cardiff University, Wales United Kingdom. She completed her doctoral degree and obtained her SJD from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Her primary interest is competition law and she has conducted training and seminars on competition law and infringements, and competition law enforcement. Her other specialised areas are corporate law, money laundering and mergers.

From 2014 to date she has served as one of the member judges in the Malaysian Competition Appeal Tribunal. She has been admitted as Advocate Solicitor in the High Court of Malaya in 1996. Dr Amin has had 16 years of rewarding service with the Malaysian Judiciary where she served as magistrate, senior assistant registrar and deputy registrar of the Malaysian High Court. In 2007, she joined the academia arena and has since passionately written articles and given lectures and talks on competition law.

Dr Wan has also been appointed as the strategic partner of the Malaysian Insolvency department, and is very active in humanitarian missions. In 2013, she and 36 students (economic, engineering and law), and in 2014 she and 18 students from IIUM Law School headed the mission to Syria (aid mission for mothers and infants) and in 2014 to 4 European countries to conduct studies and humanitarian outreach on elderly rights.
