Mrs. Vilawan Mangklatanakul

Mrs. Mangklatanakul is Deputy Director-General of the Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand who is responsible for providing legal advice for the Ministry and the Government.

She has extensive diplomatic and international law experience in various capacities including representing the Royal Thai Government as the lead negotiator and legal adviser for numerous Free Trade Agreements and International Investment Agreements, most notably, ASEAN Protocol on Dispute Settlement Mechanism and Privileges and Immunities Agreement.

She served as an associate judge at the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court from 2003 – 2008. She has also conducted extensive lectures on law of treaty, international trade and investment law, dispute settlement mechanisms and arbitration for various governmental agencies and academic institutions in Thailand and abroad.

Mrs. Mangklatanakul has a PhD in Investment Law from Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London. She also holds an LLM in International Commercial Law from Queen Mary College, University of London and an LLB from Thammasat University.
