Mr. Ng Wai King
Mr Ng Wai King is the Managing Partner of WongPartnership, one of Singapore’s leading law firm. Wai King has an active practice that focuses on M&A and private equity.
In 2010, Wai King found himself in the UK advising Singapore billionaire Peter Lim on his bid to acquire Liverpool Football Club. A long suffering supporter, he was much disappointed when Liverpool was eventually sold to yet another group of American owners. Liverpool’s recent resurgence under Jurgen Klopp is nevertheless very much welcomed!
Wai King worked on the two largest M&A transactions in Singapore’s corporate history – the S$13.8 billion takeover of Fraser & Neave by his clients (TCC Assets and Thai Beverage) after fending off a competing bidder and, more recently, the S$16 billion acquisition of Global Logistics Properties by his client (the Nesta consortium) via a scheme of arrangement. Wai King was also involved in all three of KKR’s buyout of SGX listed companies (MMI, Unisteel and Goodpack), Navis Capital’s privatisation of King’s Safetywear and Eng Kong, Southern Capital’s acquisition of UE E&C and Colony Capital’s purchase of Raffles and Swissotel hotel portfolio.
Wai King graduated from the National University of Singapore where he was awarded the AV Winslow Prize. He subsequently obtained an LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law where he graduated as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
